Dar Al Andalous * * * *
A reasonably smart and photogenic small riad style property with easy access to many of the main sights that may suit those who prefer to stay on the edge of the medina rather than in the narrow streets and alleyways of the very centre.
There are steep steps between the different levels which may prove difficult for less agile guests. There is no pool but there is hammam for those wanting basic spa treatments.
Exterior
A pink coloured, flat fronted building with palm trees beside its wooden off street entrance. The whole building is protected by a glass roof spreading over the two courtyards, which detracts from a truly authentic image.
Property type: Hotel
Balcony/Terrace: None
Storeys: 4
Built Year: 2003
Egypt holidays are one of the most popular choices for all inclusive holidays
Interior
Interior is monopolised by the green and white tiled walls and floors. Sturdy wooden doors lead off the courtyards, steps and arches add to the rather eclectic feel of the architecture. Blue colours pillars add more variety and there are attractive trees in each courtyard. Grills cover the internal windows and a fountain provides a true Moroccan feel. The artworks look rather cheap for such a property and a small wooden bar is located in one corner.
Rooms: 12
Grounds
Apart from the two patio like courtyards, there are no grounds and no pool although a small roof terrace has limited shade and furnishings.
Location
Area Type: On a relatively calm, cul de sac, in a well maintained area, 300m to the E of Bab Boujloud, with other similarly styled residences in the same area. There are a few shops on the main street, 150m away with a wider variety and a number of restaurants in the area surrounding Bab Boujloud. Taxis pass the end of the street.
