Riad Amina

An appealing, lively and informal option with a genuine Moroccan ambience. It has more of a small hotel feel and is less intimate (and less self-conscious) than some other riads. The restaurant serves Moroccan and French cuisine.

Exterior

Two adjoining, 3-storey traditional townhouses built around a large central courtyard.

Property type: Hotel

Interior

A traditional Moroccan interior with long arched passageways, intricate plasterwork, steep stairs and plain walls with colourful rugs and cushions. The entrance hall has a small glassed-in reception counter. The comfortable lounge has a high wooden ceiling, plump slightly garish brocade seating and tables and chairs.

Rooms: 12

Grounds

The large, bright courtyard has Moorish arches painted in peach and white; tables and chairs are set around a central fountain and shaded by leafy fruit trees. The roof terrace has a pergola, tables and chairs and is scattered with rugs and cushions; good views across the medina to the Atlas mountains.

Location

Area Type: On a narrow, sloping alley in a maze of pedestrianised streets in the Sidi Ben Slimane area in the heart of the ancient medina.
