Akti Beach Village Resort

This modern village complex displays great character in places, mainly the accommodation blocks and pool side bar and taverna. Its location means that going out to dine or for drinks incorporates a 10-minute taxi ride or a 15-minute walk followed by a wait for a bus. Therefore many guests opt to upgrade to BB or HB a few days after arrival and spend most time onsite unless they hire a car. The main bar appears to be of ample size and hosts daily evening entertainment, including bingo every night. However, if an extensive number of guests wished to occupy it, it could become cramped. The spacious pool areas and lawn are a real benefit and although the beach is rocky there is a tiny cove with thoughtful handrails and a ramp leading down to it. The sun sets directly in front of this area of coast and makes spectacular viewing.

Exterior

A collection of numerous smart, white, two and three-storey blocks built in a Mediterranean village style with wooden balconies, doors and balustrades topped off with terracotta roofs. This theme continues throughout the main buildings. Ornate lanterns decorate the walls along with a plentiful supply of rubbish bins that are made of wicker so as to blend into their environment. The stone entrance is simple yet attractive and is fronted by a spacious car park, which a handful of apartments look onto.

Interior

The colourful lobby with lemon walls, beige and claret modern rattan furniture to one side and comfy blue sofas to the other, continues its village style with wooden beamed ceilings and a stone floor. This leads to the main bar at the rear of the lobby and out to a narrow terrace with limited, tired, wooden tables and stunning views over the freeform pool below, along the coast and out to sea. The health club a floor below with its functional indoor pool and gym is accessed via a pleasant seating area with crazy paved stone floor and plants that is engorged in sunlight. This also leads to the featureless main restaurant.

Grounds

Throughout the accommodation blocks along the neat winding pathways, over arches and down terraces on its walls, a plentiful variety of flora and fauna are on display. There are two main outdoor swimming pools. The first is quieter and accessible from the left of the lobby, is closest to the accommodation and is accompanied only by the mini market. The second is to the right of the lobby and a floor below is the larger freeform pool with direct access to the beach via the broad, lush green lawn with palm trees that displays many of the sunbeds. Surrounding this pool is the attractive pool bar with its blue and white-striped canopy playing lively music, traditional taverna with its blue and white-checked table cloths and kids' club.

Area Type: Set in a peaceful, rural location, a 15-minute walk to the main coastal road, where the bus stops, and runs from Paphos 4 km away in one direction to Coral Bay 5km in the other. There is one snack bar between the property and the main road and once on this road the closest selection of bars, eateries and shops are 2km towards Paphos in the tourist area known as the Tomb of the Kings, close to where this named attraction is situated. With direct access to a rocky beach and minute cove, the property is surrounded by residential villas.
