Kapetanios Limassol Hotel

This delightful property is of a high three-star standard mainly due to its furnishings, décor and charming service from mature Cypriot staff, which is becoming a rarity in many establishments. Even though it is situated a distance from the main tourist strip, there is still a good selection of bars and eateries that are more popular with the locals, thus avoiding the tourist tack.

Entertainment at night is provided in the restaurant with live music and dancing, which would suit older clients, as would the property as a whole. As it is surrounded by roads there may be a risk of noise from traffic at certain times of the day.

Definitely not a family hotel as there are no facilities for children and no barrier separating the children's pool from the main pool.

Exterior

A singular, cream-coloured block of eight storeys, well-maintained and built with smooth stone. All rooms have compact stone balconies topped with ornate iron and the majority have a sea or side sea view. The property is surrounded by roads on three sides and is separated from them by a short wall with wooden trellising on top. Six marble steps lead up to the entrance, which has a small terrace either side.

Interior

The lobby hosts the smart marble reception where the safety deposit boxes are also stored. An appealing lounge area with a large TV and comfy suede sofas in a pleasing rust colour, tone in perfectly with the well-decorated surroundings.

A smart wooden bar with bar stools, offers further seating and a plasma screen showing sports and news. The charming main restaurant is accessed from the side of the reception and has delightful, classic furnishings positioned around a stage. Stairs down to the basement bring you to the compact gym and adequately sized indoor pool, with its token Greek statue.

Grounds

Grounds are limited to the terraces either side of the entrance with their wicker furnishings and the newly re-tiled pool area with one palm tree and a handful of potted flowers. The pool bar, with its high bar stools and terrace with white plastic furniture, are on the edge of the pool and shaded by a blue wooden pergola.

An ample supply of blue and white striped sunbeds surround the pool, the majority placed at one end due to the minimal space available at the sides.

Area Type: Situated in one of the smarter areas of Limassol surrounded by upmarket residential apartments. On a quiet side street, 100 metres from the beach and the main coastal road, which leads to the tourist area 3km away in one direction and the old town and port 1km in the opposite direction. There is a choice of bars and restaurants along the coastal road and the city's main shopping area of Makarios Avenue is 10 minutes' walk inland from the hotel. Main attractions such as the zoo, municipal gardens, gallery and archaeological museum, are all within easy walking distance along the tree-lined promenade.
