Melissi

A pleasant property in a reasonable location, but it is barely occupied so therefore non-atmospheric. The accommodation blocks near the pool may experience traffic noise from the road; the blocks away from the pool have no view and look on to other accommodation. The delightful cafe bar and reception are overflowing in sophistication. It shows no evidence of tour operators' materials but claims to be a check-in for the apartments in high season; in low season clients check-in at the Melissi Beach Hotel. It could be used by all markets who require a quiet base with no facilities.

Exterior

There are four blocks, two storeys high, that are newly painted in a bright deep honey colour with spacious balconies and even larger terraces surrounded by feature archways. Two blocks surround the pool, which is open to the road, the other two are accessed down steps and across lawns. The adjacent bar and reception area building also open onto the road and are separated by a glass balcony.

Interior

The only internal area is the adjacent trendy café bar, which claims to be part of the property, called Bitters. Modern brown rattan furniture with chunky beige cushions on the outside terrace, and dark brown tables and high backed leather chairs on the inside, are complemented by the modern chic, décor. The reception desk here also incorporates this theme.

Grounds

Lawned areas, flowering hedges and mature trees decorate the grounds, which are on two levels. The pool surround is neatly tiled and spacious with a handful of sunbeds. There is a small circular pool for children, a dubious slide for small children entering the main pool, and a set of swings.

Location

Area Type: Located on the main coastal road leaving Ayia Napa, heading towards Protaras. It is surrounded by four-star hotels, one of which is the sister hotel Melissi Beach, 50 metres further up the road. This tree-lined street has a choice of modern bars and eateries and is situated 500 metres from the resort centre, or the harbour where further choice is available. A bus stop is located outside.
