Sousse

experience locals trying to sell you rubbish, quite forcefully - as long as you firmly say no they will get the message and leave you along - if you buy from one, they often send their friends to you as well because they think you will buy anything! When bartering, you can usually get them down to at least half the asking price if not more. Every time you try and walk away they will lower it a little more. Don't show an interest in something if you have no intention of buying it! I would not recommend this for 18-30 customers, but apart from that, it is pretty good for anyone - families, older couples, adventurous couples/friends who want to do the excursions. Women are safe to travel without a man with them, however you will get more attention - it depends how happy you are with telling locals to get lost over and over again! One tip: If a local asks you where you're staying, don't say which hotel. Not only for the obvious safety reasons. They will assess your wealth by the hotel you're staying in, and if you happen to be at a luxury hotel they will push you for more money! Give them the name of a cheaper, lower class hotel (regardless of where you're staying) and you will get less bother and cheaper prices!
